Hammamet sits on a wide bay on Tunisia's Mediterranean coast. Its small walled medina, with a kasbah right above the beach, is the old heart of the town, and long sandy beaches stretch north and south of it.

Yasmine Hammamet, to the south, is a purpose built resort area with a marina, hotels and a promenade. Day trips reach the medina of Sousse, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Roman amphitheatre of El Jem and the ruins of Carthage near Tunis.

Flights land at Enfidha Hammamet International Airport, about 40 minutes from the resorts. Summer is hot and sunny; May, June, September and October are pleasant for sightseeing.
